Independent Reading The Mark of Athena

For the independent reading for this quarter I read The Mark of Athena, from Rick Riordan´s Heroes of Olympus series, in this book Percy Jackson and his friends (Leo, Hazel, Frank, Jason, Piper and Annabeth) need to complete several quests in different parts of Italy to stop the earth goddess Gaea from rising and destroying all humanity. The most important quest is one that Annabeth needs to complete alone, to retrieve the Athena Parthenos (An ancient statue that has magical powers, and is the base of all problems between Roman and Greeks) from Arachne, a spider woman that was punished for eternity by Athena( the goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, law and justice, mathematics, strength, war strategy, the arts, crafts, and skill).

This book is totally worth reading, because it has a really interesting plot that follows all of the other Percy Jackson books it is facinating how this group of seven demigods involved in a prophecy, kill giants, monsters and even escape from gods. This book is reccomended to all of the Percy Jackson lovers, but also to all of the lovers of Greek mithology that understand who each goddess or god is, and that can understand all of the myths mentioned in the story, but if you dont like neither of this, you should start by reading the books that came before this one to understand this breathtaking sequel.
